Recognition of Prior Learning and Credit Transfer
- Recognition of Prior Learning is that credit granted following an assessment in respect of prior learning based on life experience, work experience, competency, informal education/training and/or formal education/training. A challenge test may be offered to applicants. Recognition of prior learning will normally be awarded only in relation to courses successfully completed within the last five years. If study was prior to five years ago, the applicant must provide evidence to demonstrate current competence.
- Credit Transfer refers to situations where there is equivalent learning from similar colleges or situations where the learning is identical, as would be the case for any students who have taken our Personal Interest courses and then been accepted into the Bachelor of Natural Medicine.
The RPL/CT Application Process
New applicants may indicate that they are interested in applying for RPL or CT on the Application Questionnaire and during their interview.
Students will be sent the RPL/CT application form to complete after they have been offered a place in a programme. An administration fee applies for each course. RPL/CT are processed when the fee has been received.
Assessing RPL applications is a highly specialised and time-consuming task.
We encourage RPL applicants to look at our course descriptors https://www.spcnm.ac.nz/
Students may be assessed by a combination of:
- evidence the student provides;
- further assessment tasks, to assess all the skills and knowledge required.
