Malcolm’s current position is as the Pou Takawaenga / General Manager Māori Health Directorate within Te whatu Ora (Health NZ), Te Tai Tokerau.
Upon his return from Australia, Malcolm has connected with his wider whānau, hapū and iwi in Muriwhenua and this has resulted in him representing his whānau and hapū as a marae delegate for Te Rarawa Marae and also being appointed as a director on Te Waka Pupuri Putea Limited (TWPP), Te Runanga O Te Rarawa Asset Holding Company, and the Te Ahu Museum Trust Board, Kaitaia. Malcolm has also been appointed as a Trustee for the Tarapunga Trust established to support rural communities through the provision of outreach services in particular through the ENT mobile clinic.
Malcolm has had extensive experience working in the department of Corrections and Health and disability Sector in both New Zealand and Australia including in operations management and CEO roles. He previously held the role of CEO of Te Roopu Taurima o Manukau (National kaupapa Māori Health and disability service. He has held several governance roles in the NGO sector as Chairman of National Organisation – (Health Care Aotearoa), IPNANZ – (Injury Prevention Network Aotearoa NZ) and including Chairman of Primary Health services in Central Wellington, Wairarapa and Porirua.
